7 Baguio scholars of SM Foundation

BAGUIO CITY—A total of 256 SM Foundation graduates were presented to mall tycoon Henry Sy Sr. and other members of his  family during the 21st Presentation of Graduates held at SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City last month. Out of the 256 graduates nationwide, 74 finished with Latin Honors.

In Baguio City, SM Foundation had seven graduates, mostly from Saint Louis University. Leading the scholars is Heather Ann Pulido, who graduated summa cum laude with a BSED English degree at Saint Louis University.

The other scholars were Andra Marie B. Garcia (BS Electronics and Communications Engineering, magna cum laude), Arvin Jay G. Gaw (BS Information Technology, cum laude), Rother Jon P. Bobiles (BS Information Technology), Zyjazz D. de Guzman (BSBA Financial Management), Matthew Ezra M. Labre (BS Information Technology), and Crisjan Ira Kashmir J. Ramboyong (BS Management Accounting).

The SM scholar graduates of school year 2016–2017 gathered for a testimonial dinner together with their benefactor, the proud parents, officials of partner schools of SM Foundation Inc., members of the academe, SM officials, clients and friends of the SM Group. The graduates were treated to a special IMAX showing at the MoA moviehouses. 

An exclusive job fair was also held for scholars preceding the event. They were interviewed by the human resources team of participating SM companies which include SM Investments, Inc., Shopping Center Management Corp., SM Store, SM Retail, SM Food Group (Supermarket, Hypermarket, Savemore and Alfamart etc.

The SM Foundation qualifies its scholarship program graduates from public high schools with an average grade of 88 and above at least up to the second grading. The annual income of the parents, who mostly are farmers, fishermen, jeepney drivers and laborers, should not exceed P150,000.

The presentation of the SM Foundation graduate scholars is an annual tradition of the Sy family since the scholarship program produced its first batch of graduates in 1997.
