Star Tollway Corp., the operator of the Star toll road, said it completed work on upgrades on parts of the 42-kilometer expressway stretching from Sto. Tomas to Batangas City.
The company said it was looking to add new lanes at two of the busiest toll plazas.
The operator said it completed the widening of the Sto. Tomas exit ramp from one lane with shoulder to two lanes. The exit ramp is critical for trucks and buses headed to Quezon province, and the expansion would significantly improve traffic flow in the area.
The widening also benefits the growing number of pilgrims exiting at Sto. Tomas to visit the Shrine of Padre Pio in the municipality, the operator said.
STC said it also completed the refinishing of the shoulder of the tollway’s main alignment, to improve usability in emergency situations. It also widened the vehicle inspection post in Batangas City.
