Telco rises against hunger

How do you beat hunger? You buy food.

Globe chief human resources officer Renato Jiao (middle) and Rise Against Hunger representative Jomar Flores (third from left) led the launch of an initiative that helps fund hunger relief activities.

A simple yet clever idea which Globe Telecom takes advantage of to help fund the initiatives of Rise Against Hunger (RAH), a hunger relief organization that coordinates food distribution all over the Philippines.

Globe has launched a program where employees can help fund the RAH projects through in-house meal pre-ordering and seat-reservation app called Taste N’ Go. This is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to engage employees in its social responsibility practices, and part of its continuing partnership with RAH since 2017.

For every transaction, an employee makes through Taste N’ Go at the Globe cafeteria, RAH receives a donation that funds its feeding program, which is geared specifically toward school children who are experiencing hunger in the Philippines. The program started on July 3.

The Globe cafeteria, located on the 8th floor of its headquarters in Taguig City, features several merchants that offer a variety of food choices. The app allows employees to order meals and reserve seats.

“Helping those in need is an integral part of the Globe culture,” enthused Yoly Crisanto, Globe chief sustainability officer and senior vice president for corporate communications.

She continued, “Our Globe employees take their social responsibility to heart, this time in partnership with RAH. Through this partnership, we can continue supporting and helping families who are most in need.”

According to RAH executive director Jomar Flores, Globe’s donation will help fund the supplemental feeding of over 10,000 nutritionally-at-risk children.
