Chong quizzed on ‘leaked data’

Ex-Biliran Rep. Glenn Chong, who was disowned by former  Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as one of his lawyers, has a lot of explaining to do why the leaked data from Ragay, Camarines Sur was in his possession.

Vice Leni Robredo through lawyer Romulo Macalintal, filed an urgent motion with the Supreme Court sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal to look into the leaked data and summon Chong to shed light.

“Despite his lengthy discussion on why he should not be held accountable for the data in his possession, Attorney Glenn Chong still managed not to address the issue,” Macalintal said.

Macalintal questioned Chong’s claim that the audit logs were obtained from the camp of ex-Camarines Sur Luis Villafuerte Sr. of District 3.

He said that it was not part of Villafuerte's election protest challenging the results of the elections in District 3, saying Ragay is part of District 1.

Robredo’s lawyer also questioned Chong's presence during the stripping and turnover activities of the Commission on Elections in Sta. Rosa, Laguna despite being a non-party to the case.

In the same motion, Robredo’s camp also asked the PET to expunge the comment filed by Chong's supposed counsel Al Vitangcol III from the case's records.

“There is no evidence to show that Atty. Al S. Vitangcol III was duly authorized to submit the said comment on behalf of Atty. Glenn Chong,” Robredo’s lawyer Bernadette Sardillo said.
