Jeson Patrombon whipped doubles partner Vicente Anasta with a superb all-around game and posted an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory to rule the PPS-PEPP Fr. Fernando Suarez Open Championships for the second straight year at the Brent Tennis Center in Biñan, Laguna last weekend.

Patrombon kept his run of good form from the first round to the semis, where he dispatched Fritz Verdad, 6-0, 6-1, and hinted at a one-sided title duel when he held serve and broke Anasta in all his turns to complete the first set rout.

Anasta finally held serve in the fourth game of the second frame but after Patrombon took the next, the latter broke the former again then held serve for last time via four straight points after going 0-15 down to extend his reign in the event held in honor of healing priest Fr. Suarez.

Patrombon, who beat absentee and fellow Davis Cup veteran Johnny Arcilla via the same fashion last year, pocketed the top P30,000 purse with Anasta, who repulsed Leander Lazaro, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5, in the Final Four, receiving P15,000 along with the two losing semifinalists.

Patrombon and Anasta later teamed up to thwart Lazaro and Verdad, 6-1, 6-7(5), 10-5, to clinch the doubles plum worth P20,000.

Meanwhile, Joseph Victorino and Roy Tan trounced Joey Koh and Keff Gamana, 8-4, to capture the pro-am crown, one of the side events of the tournament put up by Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala that also featured the Legends division.

Jonathan Bernardo and Jonathan Miranda nipped Expedito Lim Jr. and Noel Lontok, 8-7(7), in the semis then blasted Eddie Gomez and Roy Tan, 8-5, to bag the Legends 40-and-above diadem while Aldrin Geluz and Nasser Mortiga posted a pair of 8-3 romps over the Ernie Dinio-Remo Librodo and Henry Escalante-Jackie Tomacruz in the semis and finals, respectively, to nail the Legends 50-and-above crown.
