Amid a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases that is likely fueled by the Omicron variant, Vice President Leni Robredo wants more medical and non-medical volunteers to come forward to join the Bayanihan E-Konsulta program under her office.
“We expect an increase again of those who would need the help of e-Konsulta. That’s why I want to take this opportunity to call for volunteers,” said Robredo, who is running for president in the May 9 elections as an independent candidate.
“The last time there was a surge in Metro Manila, we were able to partner with 1,078 doctors and 3,156 non-medical volunteers who responded to our call. We need this kind of effort amid the surge,” she said.
The OVP is in need of medical and non-medical volunteers, including licensed mental health professionals, she added.
“The details are in our Facebook page for signing up. Filipinos need one another’s help,” Robredo said.
Bayanihan E-Konsulta is Robredo’s teleconsultation program launched in April 2021 to help address the surge in COVID-19 cases.
Robredo said the COVID-19 treatment pill Molnupiravir is also available for free from the Bayanihan E-Konsulta for as long as it is recommended by the program’s volunteer doctors for qualified patients.
