The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has unveiled the initial lineup of official entries for its 49th edition in December. The films include A Mother and Son’s Story (drama), (K)ampon (horror thriller), Penduko (fantasy action), and Rewind (romance drama).
A Mother and Son’s Story by Cineko Productions, Inc. is a drama starring Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards. Quantum Films’s (K)ampon is a horror thriller featuring Beauty Gonzales and Derek Ramsay. Sari Sari Network’s Penduko brings a fantasy action story to the screen, with Cristine Reyes and Matteo Guidicelli in the lead roles. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. showcases Rewind, a romance drama that stars Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
Members of the MMFF Selection Committee, led by respected producer and industry stalwart Jesse Ejercito, carefully chose the entries from the script submissions.
I thank the members of the MMFF Selection Committee for dedicating their time and effort in the thorough deliberation and selection process to choosing the initial set of quality films that moviegoers will surely love,” said MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Concurrent Chairman Don Artes.
Meanwhile, the remaining four official entries to complete the MMFF 2023 lineup will be selected from finished film submissions. The deadline for finished film submissions is September 29.
The highly anticipated MMFF, known as the biggest and most popular film festival, is scheduled to take place from December 2023 until January 2024.
The MMFF is an annual event held during the Christmas season, with the primary goal of promoting and preserving Philippine cinema.
Proceeds from the film festival are allocated to various beneficiaries within the film industry.
