DMCI Homes, the property arm of conglomerate DMCHI Holdings Inc., said it delivered a record 8,000 residential units to homebuyers in 2023.

DMCI Holdings president and chief executive Isidro Consunji said the delivery is the highest in the group’s history and represented an increase of 60 percent from 5,000 units turned over in 2022.

Consunji said several big projects were completed last year which enabled the company to timely turn over the condominium units to homebuyers.

The group plans to expand this year its leisure development projects with the launch of a 40-hectare project in Los Banos, Laguna.

“We want to create a new market for that will offer affordable leisure projects,” Consunji said. The group previously launched similar projects in Baguio City and San Juan, Batangas.

The 7.5-hectare project in Batangas, called Solmera Coast, booked reservation sales of P5.6 billon in just over a month from its launch.

Consunji said with the strong takeup of these projects, the group began finalizing plans to launch a new leisure project in Laguna offering condotels, villas and recreational activities.

He said the move is to venture into leisure development as part of the group’s overall strategy to diversify into other property offerings as the affordable residential market reaches a saturation point.

DMCI reported in December that it teamed up with Japan’s Marubeni Corp. to develop a condominium project in Pasig City, targeting the rapidly growing homebuyer market in Metro Manila.

The project, called Valeron Tower, is a 55-story residential condominium rising along E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave., offering 1,962 residential units.

DMCI has other partnership projects with Marubeni, including the LRT Line 2 East Extension Project, Maynilad Water Services Inc. consortium and recent initiatives in reforestation and plantation development in Negros Occidental.
