Hapi Jockey Club, Inc. is thrilled to announce a modest investment from multi-awarded horseman and incumbent Vice Governor of the Province of Leyte, Leonardo “Sandy” Javier, Jr.
Beyond his distinguished reputation in the horseracing industry in the Philippines, Javier is also renowned as the proud owner and founder of Andok’s Litson Corp., the ubiquitous roasted chicken chain that has gained popularity throughout the country.
Javier has been a stalwart in the horseracing and breeding industry for the past 35 years, having bred numerous champions including Strong Material, Wind Blown, Empire King, Magna Carta and more.
His investment will further hasten the development of a new thoroughbred racetrack in Padre Garcia, Batangas, owned and operated by HAPI Jockey Club, Inc. and to be known as the “Philippine Jockey Club.”
Known fondly as “Sandy,” his investment signifies more than just financial support. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry will be invaluable in addressing the various concerns of horse owners and breeders.
The new racetrack is a testament to Javier’s commitment to providing local horsemen with a place they can rightfully call their own. His involvement ensures the facility will be designed and operated with the needs of the horse racing community in mind.
Under Republic Act No. 11649, HAPI Jockey Club, Inc. (“HJCI”) was granted a 25-year franchise to construct, operate, and maintain racetracks for horse racing in the provinces of Batangas, Laguna, and Cavite. This legislative franchise was formally approved and signed into law on March 8, 2022.
Among those who welcomed Vice Governor Sandy Javier to this momentous occasion were HJCI Chairman Oliver “Jojo” Velasquez, HJCI Vice Chairman – Treasurer, Engr. Elmer de Leon, HJCI President Raymond Puyat and HJCI Corporate Secretary/Director Manny Viray. Accompanying Sandy Javier was his spouse, Leyte 2nd District Representative, Congresswoman Lolita Karen T. Javier.
Together, they look forward to bolstering the horseracing and breeding industry in the Philippines and making a positive impact on the local economy.
