President Marcos has received a hefty 79-percent trust rating in the latest “Boses ng Bayan” national survey, conducted March 18-23, 2024, by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
The survey has provided an insightful analysis of the trust and approval ratings of the highest-ranking officials in the Philippine government and reveals a positive perception among the Filipino populace towards their leaders.
This independent and non-commissioned survey demonstrated that President Marcos enjoys a robust trust rating of 79% and an approval rating of 76%. Vice President Sara Duterte has also garnered positive assessments, with a 77% trust rating and a 74% job satisfaction rating.
Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and House Speaker Martin Romualdez likewise received strong endorsements from the populace, with trust ratings of 73% and 75% and job approval ratings of 70% and 72%, respectively.
Regionally, President Marcos’s trust ratings showed the highest levels in the Balance of Luzon at 86.0%, followed by Visayas (75.1%), the National Capital Region (73.3%), and Mindanao (71.7%). His approval ratings mirrored this pattern, with the highest in the Balance of Luzon (81.6%) and tapering through the National Capital Region (72.1%), Visayas (71.9%), and Mindanao (70.6%).
Vice President Duterte’s trust ratings were solid in Mindanao (88.0%), with other notable scores in Visayas (74.7%), Balance of Luzon (73.6%), and the National Capital Region (71.7%). Her approval ratings followed a similar geographical distribution, peaking in Mindanao (82.1%) and then in descending order through Visayas (72.4%), Balance of Luzon (71.5%), and the National Capital Region (70%).
Senate President Zubiri’s trust and approval ratings showed his strongest support in Mindanao (trust: 76.4%, approval: 71.2%), with substantial figures also coming from the Balance of Luzon (trust: 73.1%, approval: 70.7%), Visayas (trust: 70.3%, approval: 67.9%), and the National Capital Region (trust: 70.1%, approval: 68.2%).
House Speaker Romualdez received his highest trust rating in Visayas (80.1%), with significant support also from Mindanao (76.4%), Balance of Luzon (72.8%), and the National Capital Region (71.2%). His approval ratings displayed a similar trend, with the highest in Visayas (78.1%), followed by Mindanao (71.0%), Balance of Luzon (70.1%), and the National Capital Region (70.0%).
Under the stewardship of Senate President Zubiri, the Senate of the Philippines has achieved a commendable trust rating of 83% and a job approval rating of 80% in the first quarter. Concurrently, the House of Representatives, led by House Speaker Romualdez, has also garnered notable approval from the public, with a trust rating of 78% and a job satisfaction rating of 75%.
Dr. Paul Martinez, Global Affairs Analyst and Executive Director of RPMD, noted the Filipino public’s strong support and satisfaction with their top government officials, as reflected in the high trust and performance ratings. With these officials starting their roles in 2024, Martinez sees the positive feedback as foundational for their success in addressing upcoming challenges.
“RPMD will continue to play its role as a conduit for the ‘voice of the people’ to leaders, advocating for an assessment approach that uses the first quarter of 2024 as a benchmark for current-year evaluations rather than comparing with previous year-end results. This method aims for a more precise assessment of the officials’ responsiveness and effectiveness amidst the Philippines’ dynamic political environment,” he said.
The “Boses ng Bayan” survey aimed to evaluate the performance of the President and top government officials, adopting a direct yet comprehensive approach by probing public satisfaction and trust levels.
Through engaging 10,000 adults chosen randomly from a vast pool of 67.75 million registered voters, this methodology ensured a nationally representative sample, with regional distributions reflecting official voter statistics.
With a precise margin of error at +/-1% and a confidence level of 95%, the survey offered a definitive insight into public perceptions of the administration’s efficacy.
