National Housing Authority (NHA) general manager Joeben Tai has led the awarding of housing units to 109 families who were victims of the armed conflict between government forces and the Moro National Liberation Front (Misuari) Zamboanga City.

Under the NHA’s mandate, calamity victims are entitled to safe, comfortable and calamity-resilient homes through the agency’s calamity housing program, alongside efforts to establish sustainable communities within resettlement sites through the provision of livelihood programs, employment opportunities and skills-enhancement sessions, he said.

Located in Barangay Sta. Barbara, Zamboanga City, the Ayer Village Subdivision phase III, which features two-story houses with a kitchen, toilet and bath, bed, living and dining rooms, and a service/laundry area, will be the new community of the beneficiaries.

Before the awarding ceremony, Tai inspected the site to ensure the quality of the housing project.

He said calamity victims are also supported by the Emergency Housing Assistance Program and other program aimed at providing cash grants.

Recently, 438 fire-victim families in Muntinlupa City each received P10,000 worth of cash assistance in a distribution activity.
