SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday administered the oath of membership to Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez and seven other officials of the province who have joined the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.

Romualdez’s Lakas-CMD is the largest political party supporting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Romualdez, who is Lakas-CMD president, administered the oath of membership to the new members in the presence party officials and colleagues in the House of Representatives.

He said he was happy that Hernandez and his officials “chose to align themselves with Lakas-CMD and the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas in support of President Marcos and his administration.”

“Together, we can fulfill our dream of a Bagong Pilipinas for our people,” he said.

The leader of the 300-plus-strong House said he expects more local executives to join the party and the administration coalition as the May 2025 combined local and congressional elections near.

“Naturally, they would like to gravitate towards the coalition,” he added.

Joining Hernandez in affiliating themselves with Lakas-CMD were Laguna board member Magtanggol Jose Carait III, Mayor Dwight Kampitan, Vice Mayor RJ Kampitan, and councilors Florencio Laraño, Homer Herradura, Analyn Nava, and John Paul Pahutan, all of Victoria town.

Former Victoria officials John Patrick S. Cambe and Lester Rebong likewise took their oath of membership.

Hernandez and his colleagues were the latest batch of local government officials to join Lakas-CMD.

On Monday, Speaker Romualdez administered the oath to more than 30 mayors, vice mayors and councilors from Bulacan and Bukidnon.
