Trust the talent: Why this health solutions firm is growing its teams in the PH

An important part of being a lifetime, trusted health partner is grounded in a firm’s ability to ensure consumers have access to services that will meet their whole health needs across their entire healthcare journey.

That’s why inspiring collaboration by embracing diversity and building on each associate’s strengths is at the heart of healthcare services firm Carelon Solutions Global Philippines, says its new chief country executive Nicki Agcaoili.

Established in the Philippines in 2018, Carelon, earlier known as Legato Health Technologies, specializes in digital tools to streamline business operations for healthcare organizations.

As former chief strategy and planning officer Agcaoili said, “Being the new chief country executive is a huge honor and I’m committed to continuing what we have started at Carelon by empowering our own associates to be future leaders and experts in delivering full and complete care brandishing the heart of Filipino known for ‘malasakit’ (concern).”

Friendliness, professionalism, and empathy—these aspects of humanity are much evident in Filipinos, according to Agcaoili, because of our unique brand of service that combines knowledge and care in serving people.

That’s why Carelon continues to invest in them by letting each associate undergo upskilling and reskilling programs to ensure they are all well-equipped to respond to the ever-evolving needs of the industry.

Initially, Carelon Philippines had an initial goal of bringing together 1500 talents to transform the way healthcare works. And as of the second quarter of 2024, the company now boasts a talent pool of more than 9000 diverse and highly-skilled individuals with expertise in healthcare, technology, and customer experience.

It currently has four offices in the Philippines—two in Manila and two in Iloilo—and has achieved over 80 capabilities performed out of the country as a global capability center.

Along with the rebranding earlier this year, Agcaoli said the company will continue opening more opportunities for Filipinos and, of course, putting the welfare of their employees first.

“We are looking at hiring more talents by next year,” he said. “As we speak, we have more than a thousand jobs in the pipeline. So, with that, my fervent hope is to get us to breach the 10,000 mark.”

Agcaoili added that the company is  looking at establishing another recruitment hub in various regions and is assessing the talent availability and infrastructure in those areas.

“We are also looking at different locations outside of Manila and Iloilo, which I think is testament to our intent to continue to grow,” he said. “We’d love to put the fifth site up this year, but the thing is, you have to go through proper due diligence. We really are making sure that we’re making the right decision on the next location.”

Aside from the Philippines, Carelon also has presence in India, Ireland and Puerto Rico serving the US market.
