The PCCI holds its first Media Kapihan with Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. as guest. Organized by the PCCI publicity and promotions committee, the maiden media briefing was attended by PCCI president consul Enunina V. Mangio and chairman George T. Barcelon who welcomed Secretary Laurel to the PCCI headquarters. Prior to the briefing, Laurel engaged in a small dialogue with PCCI leaders on certain policy issues that affect agribusiness stakeholders. He capped the briefing with the assurance of making the farming industry productive and competitive again. His agency, he said, is working on various policy initiatives and programs such as enhancing the quality of soil to increase productivity of farmers, revival of the salt industry and strengthening the aquaculture sector.
