The Sports Nutrition Association of the Philippines, headed by its President Sharafiyah Batua-Mambuay, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and the Philippine Association of Nutrition (PAN) are collaborating for the 1st Philippine Sports Nutrition Summit set on August 15 at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia grounds.
“This is a milestone project for our group as it is the first time we are working with the PSC and other sports stakeholders, also we opened this to the public. We have also allocated slots for our national athletes, including para-athletes, who will not be paying registration fees,” said Mambuay.
PSC Commissioner Matthew “Fritz” Gaston, who will deliver the opening remarks, welcomed the development of Philippine sports as sports nutrition is an important area for athletes to understand aside from other sports science areas.
Mambuay will talk on “Integrating Sports Science and Nutrition for Peak Performance,” while other resource speakers, both from SNAP and PSC’s Medical and Scientific Athletes’ Services (MSAS) will tackle related subject matter, including Nutrition Periodization, Overtraining Syndrome: Recognition, Prevention, and Management, and Mental Resilience: Fueling the Mind for Competitive Success.
