Taiwan Association hosts Mid-Autumn Festival

The Taiwan Association Inc. Philippines celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sept. 15, 2024 at Gloria Maris, Greenhills in San Juan City.

The event featured a luncheon and various activities aimed at fostering community spirit among Taiwanese nationals and businessmen in the Philippines.

Representative Wallace Chow of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO) delivered the keynote address on behalf of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Chow gained admiration when he served as ambassador to Palau and responded to the calls made by Taiwanese businessmen when they needed assistance.

Taiwan Association Inc. Philippines president Lin Teng Feng shared a report and holiday greetings, outlining his commitment to expanding the association’s activities.

Lin highlighted efforts to engage with the Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce and improve services for Taiwanese businessmen, while also focusing on creating more exchange opportunities for youth between Taiwan and the Philippines.

He also emphasized making the association a key platform for investment, consultancy, and business matchmaking.

The highlight of the celebration is when beneficiaries of the Taiwan-Philippines Scholarship Program shared their experiences of studying and living in Taiwan.

They expressed gratitude to the Taiwan-Philippines Education Development Foundation (TPEDF) for financial support, which has greatly helped them and their families.

The initiative, led by chief executive Lin Chai-Liang and chairman Su Kuo-Fang, aims to nurture the academic and technical skills of Filipino youth, helping them achieve better future.

The TPEDF’s efforts are in collaboration with Taiwan’s Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and the Taipei Economic Cultural Office (TECO) Philippines.

The Study in Taiwan Program offers a unique educational journey comprising a three-year high school program followed by a four-year bachelor’s degree. It includes hands-on training, allowing students to apply and enhance their skills in real-world settings.

The foundation’s dedicated team, including Huang Ya-Hui, Wu Kuo-Chen, Hsieh I-Ho, Huang De Fu, and Lu Chia-Hsiang, remains committed to uplifting lives through education and contributing to a brighter future for both Taiwan and the Philippines.
