With seven days to go before the official filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC), both Davao del Norte Vice Governor De Carlo Uy and first district Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez are still undecided on what positions they will be running for in the upcoming 2025 elections.

Uy, who ran as independent in the previous local election, is on his first term as vice governor of the province while Alvarez is already on his last term as a representative of the first district of Davao del Norte.

Alvarez is out of the province right now and his staff told the Manila Standard that the lawmaker is still undecided whether he will seek another local position or take a political break.

The same was true for Uy who told the Manila Standard that he has not decided yet what position to run in the upcoming 2025 local elections. He attended a regular session at the provincial hall on Monday and said he will announce his plans soon.

Uy is the son of incumbent Tagum City mayor Chong Uy and a political rival of incumbent Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib, who ran under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas party of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
