The Department of Public Works and Highways expects to further decongest Metro Manila with the opening of NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section this month.

“We are very excited that the vision of our President to bolster development and ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila is now becoming a reality with the NLEX Harbor Link nearing its completion,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday conducted a progress inspection of the NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section, the new 2.6-km elevated expressway from Caloocan Interchange, C3 Road, Caloocan City to Radial Road 10, Navotas City.

Now 90 percent complete, the NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section is among the flagship infrastructure projects under the government’s “Build, Build, Build” program aimed at moving the country forward and improving the lives of Filipinos by implementing major projects involving roads, expressways, bridges, railways, airports and green cities.

The new elevated expressway will reduce travel time between NLEX and R10 in Navotas City from 60 minutes to 10 minutes, ensuring timely delivery of goods to and from the ports of Manila. It hopes to divert 30,000 vehicles daily away from the traffic choke points of Metro Manila.

“With this project alone, we hope to relieve Metro Manila 30,000 trucks and vehicles. In a few moths, we will open another project that will relieve EDSA 1,000 vehicles,” Villar said.

“The landscape of Metro Manila will be changed completely. I can say with absolute certainly that the decongestion of EDSA is not only possibility, it is inevitability within this year,” he added.

Pleased with the government’s support in vital infrastructure projects, MPTC chairman Pangilinan affirmed the MVP Group’s commitment to help boost the productive capacity of the economy.

“Metro Pacific remains committed to creating an enabling business environment by building road networks that will contribute to the government’s efforts to solve Metro Manila’s traffic congestion, advance mobility, and spur economic activities,” Pangilinan said.
