A magnitude-6 earthquake rocked Surigao del Sur at 6:37 a.m. on Monday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
The tremor had a depth of 33 kilometers and was of tectonic origin. Its epicenter was near San Agustin town.
Phivolcs initially reported the quake at magnitude 6.4 but downgraded it in a follow-up advisory.
Intensity 5 was recorded in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur and Rosario, Agusan del Sur, and intensity 4 in Cagwait, Tandag City, and Bayabas in Surigao del Sur.
Intensity 3 was recorded in Cagayan de Oro City and Tagaloan, Villanueva, and Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.
El Salvador City, Initao, Luagit and Manticao, Misamis Oriental and Virac, Catanduanes had intensity 2.
