New banknote

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas launched on Monday a commemorative P5,000 banknote and medal in honor of the 500th anniversary of national hero Lapu-Lapu’s victory in the Battle of Mactan. The launch also kicks off a 99-day countdown to the actual anniversary this year. Although legal tender, the P5,000 banknote is not for circulation and will only be available for purchase by the public. BSP Photos
