Kids love of hotdogs goes beyond the way they are cooked – fried, grilled, or boiled and they are a hit. But for moms (and dads) looking for new ways to serve this beloved meaty and tasty snack, Mekeni offers #MomApproved recipe featuring its Picnic Hotdog.
Corndog
Ingredients:
6-8 pcs. Mekeni Picnic Hotdog
1 liter oil
1 cup Japanese breadcrumbs
thick BBQ sticks
tall drinking glass (narrow)
For the batter:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 pc. egg
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp oil
Procedure:
1. To make the batter, mix flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a bowl and add the rest of the ingredients until well incorporated and free from lumps. Set the mixture aside.
2. Prepare the Mekeni Picnic Hotdog pieces by peeling off the casing, skewering them on BBQ sticks, and patting them dry.
3. Heat the oil in a frying pan using medium heat. Pour the corndog batter into the drinking glass while waiting for the oil to heat up. Tip: If you do not have a narrow drinking glass, dip the hotdog into the bowl and slowly spread the batter on the hotdog with a spoon.
4. Pour the breadcrumbs on a plate and roll the hotdogs until fully covered.
5. Slowly slide the battered hotdogs into the oil and fry until golden brown.
6. Drain and place on paper towels and serve. Serve with ketchup and/or mustard.
