The House Committee on Trade and Industry approved House Bill 10678 which aims to establish the Clark National Food Hub.

“Establishing a national food hub in Clark will play a crucial role in shortening the supply chain from producer to consumer [and] will not only standardize logistics but also ensure the efficient movement of food products, thereby enhancing overall efficiency,” said Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, one of the authors of the bill.

The initiative aims to centralize and modernize the distribution, storage, and processing of agricultural products nationwide.

The food hub at the Clark civil aviation complex will help address food security concerns, streamline food distribution, ensure efficient movement of food products and standardize logistics.

Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) will develop, operate and manage the 62-hectare food hub.

CIAC president and chief executive Arrey Perez said the food hub would benefit the country’s agriculture sector and align with the national government’s development plans for the Luzon Economic Corridor.

The project also has the support of Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who cited the CIAC leadership’s competence in promoting investments.

The Clark National Food Hub will feature state-of-the-art food storage warehouses, cold storage facilities, processing units, administrative offices, logistics infrastructure and wholesale and retail market spaces.

It will serve as a central hub for high-quality food products, facilitating both domestic distribution and the export of Filipino agricultural products.

The approved measure will now be referred to the Committee on Appropriations and the Committee on Ways and Means for funding and tax incentives provisions.
