The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Tuesday the printing of the Digital National ID in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or plastic cards is strictly prohibited.

PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa said in an advisory Digital National IDs printed in PVC cards would not be accepted as proof of identity and age in any public and private transactions.

It said only the PSA is authorized to print and issue the National ID.

“Any individual or group found guilty of unauthorized printing, preparation, or issuance of a National ID can be penalized with imprisonment of three to six years and a fine of P1,000,000 to P3,000,000 as provided under Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act,” the agency said.

The PSA encouraged the public to download their Digital National ID via https://national-id.gov.ph/.

The PSA urged the public to report any information related to unauthorized printing of the National ID, including the Digital National ID, to the official channels of PSA.
