DOST launches science, tech week in Ifugao

LAMUT, Ifugao—The Department of Science and Technology-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) has launched the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week at the Ifugao State University, highlighting the social importance of science, technology, and innovation.

The event, dubbed “Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan” and held Aug. 7 to 9, aimed to highlight the region’s innovations in science, technology, and innovation.

DOST regional director Dr. Nancy Bantog emphasized the significance of DOST projects and programs for the region, advocating proactive community engagement to strengthen the ecosystem and promote science for regional development.

Lawyer Joycel Aguilar spoke on behalf of DOST director Marion Decena, underscored the motivations for the celebration.

Ifugao Gov. Jerry Dalipog thanked DOST for its collaboration as he encouraged the Ifugao people to embrace innovation.

He urged local authorities to work with the DOST and adopt innovative technologies appropriate for the province.

DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., as keynote speaker, highlighted the agency’s collaboration with local government units to develop solutions and opportunities.

Dr. Solidum outlined DOST’s four pillars, which align with the administration’s socio-economic agenda and the ultimate goal of achieving smart and sustainable cities and communities.
