CALAMBA CITY, Laguna–Despite the rain, over a thousand people gathered to hear about the city’s economic growth and improvements in public safety during the 282nd Foundation Anniversary celebration, where Mayor Ross Rizal delivered his third State of the City Address (SOCA) today at the Calamba City Coliseum.

In his address, Rizal highlighted the progress and reforms in Calamba, stating “Through Calambago, we can witness how Gat Jose Rizal’s ideals continue to uplift the lives of Filipinos.”

Two topics that surfaced frequently throughout the address were the challenges of trade and industry and public safety. Rizal also mentioned the city’s economic progress as Calamba was lauded by Malacañang as one of the most competitive component cities in the country — and number 1 in the whole province of Laguna.

He said: “This is an indication that our system of governance is led by public servants whose only want is positive change for a more progressive and productive Calamba City.”

In an interview with The Manila Standard after the SOCA, Rizal acknowledged the support of Vice Mayor Totie Lazaro and the City Councilors with his programs, projects, and endeavors for Calamba City.

The mayor told this reporter that this is the current state of “CalamBAGO”, where the city officials continue to make progress and provide opportunities for the citizens. With initiatives like this, he said, they are confident that the City’s economy will continue to thrive and the people will have the means to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
