Some coast guard ships report negative traces of oil within vicinity – OCD

Manila authorities continue their efforts to reinforce the cleaning initiatives of the oil spill in Limay, Bataan, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said on Friday.

According to OCD, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deployed BRP Sandigan at the sunken MT Terra Nova to act as a second layer of inflatable boom, spanning 300 meters in length. 

BRP Malapascua also conducted spraying of oil dispersant to ground zero and deployed oil
spill booms.

PCG’s Marine Environmental Protection Group’s (MEPGRP) M/Tug Mangyan and M/Tug Sambal on the other hand laid spill booms at the vicinity waters.

“As per ocular inspection of BRP Suluan and BRP Sindangan, reported negative traces of oil within the vicinity.” OCD said.

M/Tug Mangyan also conducted aerial surveillance using drones at the vicinity waters of the incident area while M/Tug Agena, M/Tug Deneb and MEPGRP conducted repositioning of the spill boom at MT Terra Nova.
