THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated in Dau, Pampanga more than ten kilos of high-grade dried marijuana or “kush” worth P17.16 million concealed in two sofa seats.

The seizure was done in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group, the National Bureau of Investigation-Pampanga district office, the Department of Justice, and local barangay officials.

The BOC said the shipment which arrived last Aug. 6, 2024 was declared as two pieces of “One Seat Sofa.”

The package was subjected to X-ray examination and K-9 sniff tests prior to the seizure.

The agents uncovered 23 self-sealing transparent plastic sachets of dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be high-grade marijuana, also known as “kush.”

Samples were then taken and turned over to the PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed that the said objects were marijuana, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165, as amended.

A warrant of seizure and detention was issued against the shipment for violation of the Customs law.
