President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved the adjustments to the Metro Manila Priority Bridges Seismic Improvement Project, beginning with the critical rehabilitation of the Guadalupe Bridge.

The project is part of efforts to ensure the bridge can withstand earthquakes as strong as magnitude 8.

“We have also been working closely with experts to develop a traffic management plan to minimize the impact on commuters,” the President said in a statement.

The Guadalupe Bridge is a crucial thoroughfare in Metro Manila, and its ongoing enhancements are essential for boosting the region’s disaster preparedness.

Marcos also said that the administration is eyeing to modernize the Laguindingan International Airport in Mindanao to enhance economic growth by improving air travel efficiency and better integrating the region into the national economy.

He commended the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board for its role in driving these infrastructure improvements.

“I commend the NEDA Board for these significant steps in strengthening our country’s infrastructure. I ask for your support and cooperation as we ‘Build Better More’ in every corner of our nation. Para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” he stated.

The ongoing projects are seen as part of the broader commitment to enhance the country’s infrastructure amid growing concerns over natural disasters and regional development.
