The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday said Motorized Vessel Mirola 1 that grounded in Bataan has been refloated completely and will be towed to safety.

“The ship in Biaan, Mariveles, Bataan has been floating in the whole,” PCG Bataan Station Commander Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina said in an interview conducted by Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon of PTV4.

“We are conducting towing operations today to bring him to a more safe place,” he added.

According to the PCG, a salvaging company has conducted patching and repair on the hull of MV Mirola 1.  It also extracted seawater contained by the ship when it went aground for the refloating operations.

The PCG went to the shoreline of Sitio New Sibol and Sitio Quiapo and reported no presence of oil in the area.
