Sparkle artist Crystal Paras stood at the side of the stage as she waited for her turn to sing. She took a deep breath as she went up on stage. With confidence and a smile on her face, Crystal held her microphone up and began delivering her performance. As usual, she gave an impeccable show.

The piece she sang was her latest single, “You, Me, and Us”, which was released by GMA Music last month. After a series of performances, together with fellow GMA artists Liana Castillo and Kim De Leon, Crystal sat down in front of the press to talk about her new song.

“When people hear the song, I just wanted them to feel like, especially for those who can’t articulate how they feel, they would know that I will not give up just because we’re going through a rough patch and I hope this song, I hope you feel the same way when you listen to this song.”

Crystal Paras’ ‘You, Me, and Us’ is about a person promising to stay in a relationship despite the challenges that come with it

Coming from a family of performers, singing is not new to Crystal. Before entering the show business, she shared that she was an acoustic singer performing at several bars and restaurants in Quezon City. In that way, it became her training ground to hone and improve her musical talent.

“And then sometimes, I would dress up as a Disney princess and sing those songs. But I also write. Actually, it’s different from the ballads that I sing for GMA,” she continued.

From her Starstruck journey five years ago, Crystal has become a home grown artist of GMA. From an Avenger, she had done stints on TV series, singing soundtracks of teleseryes, and even becoming one of the regulars before on the variety show All-Out Sundays where she belted songs with OPM singers like Mark Bautista, Rita Daniela, Manilyn Reynes, Renz Verano, and her idol, Julie Anne San Jose.

“GMA actually gave me the chance to sing in one of the segments of All-Out Sundays. And, I don’t know, that was just a dream come true. That was like two years ago. But, until now, I’m still very happy because she is my idol,” stated Crystal.

“And, she’s more than a triple threat. She can sing and dance and act and boast. And, I think she’s, a lot of what young girls like us, aspire to be, especially in the industry,” she added.

Reflecting on her journey as an artist, Crystal said that it was never easy.

“The journey has been rough so far, but all I can say is that these five years of being in this industry, Voltes V, Asawa Ng Asawa Ko, I thought I would never reach the five years. At some point I felt like I wouldn’t be given projects,” she said.

“But we’re here and with a second song coming out, so I’m thankful that they’re giving us newbies a chance to sing. I love singing. I started in theater. My mom is also an actress in theater. It’s also her dream to be in showbiz,” added Crystal.
