KRISTINA Knott has stayed in contention in her bid to earn a slot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 28-year-old Knott kept her hopes alive following a podium finish over the weekend in the 2024 Harry Jerome Track Classic at the Swangard Stadium in Barnaby Canada.

Knott snatched a bronze medal in the women’s 200-meter run in 23.42 seconds, behind gold medallist Zoe Sherar (23.14 seconds) and Jacqueline Madogo(23.2).

She is one of three tracksters, who have a great chance of joining pole vaulter EJ Obiena in the quadrennial meet, next to another Fil-American Lauren Hoffman and Spain-based John Cabang Tolentino.

Knott’s Olympic qualification ranking is now at no. 43 with 1147 points, slipping three notches down from 40 last April, with the top 48 in her event set to be confirmed by June 30.

Last week, Knott also bagged a bronze medal in the Royal Inferno Festival at the Alumni Stadium in Guelp, Canada, with her clocking of 23.24 seconds.

Earlier, Hoffman stayed  in strong contention for Olympic qualification in the 2024 Paris Games, when she took the bronze medal with a time  56.10 seconds in the women’s 400-meter hurdles of the Edmonton Invitationals at the Foote Field in Alberta.

This gave Hoffman her sixth  medal in the event this year, ahead of fellow Fil-Am Robyn Brown, who checked in at fifth place in 56.93 seconds.

Hoffman’s Olympic qualification ranking this week is at no. 34, with the top 40 expected to make it to the Olympiad at the end of the qualification window in two weeks’ time.
