COLLEGE of St. Benilde continued to show its championship intent as it overpowered University of Perpetual Help, 78-51, yesterday the lone unbeaten team standing in NCAA Season 100 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

The Blazers didn’t leave any stone unturned and just utterly dominated the Altas from start to finish to claim their fourth straight victory that kept them untouchable at the helm.

“I’m surprised we won by this much, to be honest. Every game we expect to win, but I didn’t expect we would win this big and I’m very happy with the way we played today (yesterday),” said CSB coach Charles Tiu.

Justin Sanchez, Tony Ynot and Gab Cometa paced the Blazers with 13, 12 and 10 points, respectively, that more than made up for main man Allen Liwag’s struggles after the big man transferee, who were named the league’s first Player of the week of the season by the collegiate press corps, wound up with just four points and nine boards.

Good thing CSB’s bench was too deep to overcome Liwag’s forgettable effort.

“We always tell them it’s not about you, you may have a bad game but I want the type of team that even if you struggle, mag contribute ka in other ways,” said Tiu.

It was so one-sided that the Blazers led by almost a month, 69-40, by the end of the third quarter.

The Altas dropped to 2-2.
